L'école de la glisse

Born from our friendship, the surf school is for us a way to extend our career in professional surfing. We created the school in 2015 to share the happiness the atlantic ocean brings us everyday with its waves. We are proud to keep the surf school small in order to take care of our customer and know every face we meet. It allows us to share good vibes in and out the water. Our accomplishment is to see some big smiles while our customers go out of their surf session.

A perfect place for the holidays​

We know too well the small village of Bidart, not to be in love with this place. 5 minutes from Biarritz, you could find an authentic and natural place to relax. We'll take you surfing to Erretegia, one of the most raw beaches of the basque country. You'll easily fall in love with the area and the beautiful suroundings in between the cliffs, Pyrenees mountains and the ocean.

Is L’Ecole de la Glisse, all year round ?
We are open from April to December, with two surf camps organized off season during October and Easter holidays.

Who gives the surf lessons ?
Two state-certified and formerly professional surf instructors supervise you in groups up to 8 people.
At what age can we learn to surf ?
From 6 years old, the most important thing is to know how to swim. For the packages with accommodation in the Surf Camp, you must be at least 10 years old.

Is there an age limit to start surfing ?
No age limit, we have adapted and progressive equipment, everything depends on your physical condition and your attendance.
​
What if I'm a beginner ?
Our school offers you initiation, training and improvement courses in surfing and bodyboarding. Beginners are therefore welcome. The water conditions in which you surf are of course adapted to your level. We carry out level groups whenever possible.

Is the equipment provided ?
Yes, in any case. The wetsuits are assigned to you according to your size and water temperature. The boards are adapted according to your level.

What should I bring for my surfing stay ?
In addition to your clothes for the duration of your stay, you need a sleeping bag and your beach and toilet towels. For all, we recommend sunscreen and a hat for a successful surfing stay in Biarritz.

How many hours of surfing per day ?
The number of lessons per day varies according to the formula chosen and your motivation.

Do I need insurance ?
You must have individual liability insurance covering surfing, be able to swim 25 meters and have no contraindications to surfing.

Can we surf with rain and thunderstorms ?
There is no problem surfing in the rain but the storm is very dangerous and you are taking a big risk by staying in the water. Wait until this one passes. The Basque country can be temperamental but storms pass relatively quickly.

At what time are the classes during the day ?
The quality of the waves depends on the tide and the size of the swell. In general, the best wave conditions are in the middle of the rising tide.

Are there any special rates for groups ?
Yes, and they are degressive. The easiest way is to contact us, we will help you to organize your surf trip to Bidart. In addition, we organize sessions for hen parties and bachelor parties.

To find an accommodation near our surf school in the beautiful village of Bidart, you can try the 4 stars camping nearby ERREKA and BERRUA. Two camping sites near the ocean which offer special rates with us.

Off season :
During October and April holidays, we have a beautiful basque house in the village of Guethary to host you during our surf camps. You can read more about our surf camp here.
